Mixed fruit custard recipe | Fruit custard recipe | Custard recipe | Vanilla fruit custard recipe

Today I am going to share you, yummy and delicious dessert, mixed fruit custard which can be easily made at home on any occasions and when the kids are not fond of fruits, just prepare mixed fruit custard, so they will definitely love this dish.

Important Notes:
  • While mixing custard powder in little amount of milk, make sure milk is cold or at room temperature. If you are using warm or hot milk in custard powder, it will form lumps.
  • When you are using normal custard powder without any flavor, just add 2 to 3 drops of vanilla essence which gives a nice flavour to this dish. In this recipe, i am using vanilla flavored custard powder.
  • Once Custard is chilled, it turns to more thick and creamy consistency. (as per the ingredients which i am using in this recipe, you can choose 5 different kinds of fruits, measured for 1 1/4 cup).
  • Chop fruits just before serving.
    • In mixed fruit custard, you can choose any kind of fruits or seasonal fruits of your choice. But skip by adding watery kind of fruit like watermelon, honeydew and cantaloupe and so on…because custard will turns to watery consistency.

    Recipe Type: Dessert
    Cuisine: Indian
Serves or Yields: 5 to 6

    Ingredients for mixed fruit custard:
    • Milk – 2 cups
    • Custard powder – 2 tbsps
    • Cold or room temperature Milk – 3 tbsps
    • Cardamom powder – 1 tsp
    • Sugar – ¼ cup

Fruits:( measuring 1 cup = 236ml is used)
    • Chopped Apple – ¼ cup
    • Pomegranate seeds – ¼ cup
    • Banana chopped – ¼ cup
    • Chopped Strawberries – ¼ cup
    • Grapes – ¼ cup
    • Orange – ¼ cup
    • Chopped mango - ¼ cup
    • Chopped pineapple -  ¼ cup

    Procedure for mixed fruit custard:
    • Into a wide open heavy bottom pan, add 2 cups of full fat milk. Bring it to boil on a medium heat and also stir in regular intervals to prevent sticking at the bottom.
    • In the meanwhile, take 2 tbsps of custard powder into small bowl (here I am using vanilla flavored custard powder). Add 3 tbsps of cold milk or room temperature milk. Mix it well completely and make sure there are no lumps. (Do not use hot or warm milk, custard powder will form lumps). (when you are using plain custard powder, just add 2 drops of vanilla essence).
    • When milk started to boil, add sugar, cardamom powder. Mix it well completely until sugar is dissolved in milk.
    • Turn the flame to as low as possible and just before adding custard mix in milk, mix it once again.
    • Now add custard mix with one hand and stir it continuously with other hand on a low flame.
    • Boil this until it thickens slightly or for 2 mins. Keep on stirring continuously.
    • Once this is done, turn off the flame and allow it to cool down completely. Transfer to other bowl, cover and refrigerate for 2 hours or until it is chilled.
    • Once custard is chilled, it turns to more thick and creamy consistency.
    • Now just before serving, add chopped apple, orange, chopped banana, pomegranate seeds and you can also add grapes, chopped mango or any seasonal fruits of your choice but skip by adding watery kind of fruits like watermelon, honeydew, cantaloupe and so on because by adding these fruits custard turns to watery consistency.
    • Chop fruits just before serving and as per the ingredients which i am using in this recipe, you can choose 5 different kinds of fruits, measured for 1 1/4 cup. Mix it well completely.
    • Here our delicious mixed fruit custard is ready now. Garnish with some pomegranate seeds or Anardhana. You can also add whipped cream or vanilla ice cream of your choice just before serving.
    • Serve this chilled and delicious mixed fruits custard as a dessert and enjoy with family and friends.
