Masala tea recipe | How to make easy & tasty masala tea at home recipe | Masala chai recipe

Many Indians like to have a cup of tea or coffee in the morning or evening. Today I am going to share you masala tea which is good for health and is a favorite drink among Indians especially during monsoon and cold winter. When you are preparing masala tea during summer, reduce masala spice level.

I like to have a cup of tea every day in the morning without having that I will get headache. I know many Indians do have the same.

Ingredients for Masala tea: (236ml cup used)

  • Tea powder - 2 1/2 tsps
  • Water - 1 cup or required amount
  • Ginger - 1 inch size freshly crushed
  • Peppercorns - 4 or required amount
  • Cinnamon stick - 1/2 inch size
  • Cardamom pods - 2
  • Cloves - 2
  • Milk - 1 cup or required amount
  • Sugar - 2 tsps or required amount

Procedure for masala tea: 

  • Boil a cup of water in a tea pan or sauce pan. You can adjust water quantity of your choice.
  • In the meanwhile, take two cardamom pods and coarsely crush in a mortar pestle, transfer to other bowl and also coarsely crush 1 inch size ginger in mortar pestle.
  • When water starts to boil, add crushed cardamom, 2 cloves, 4 peppercorns, ½ inch size cinnamon stick and crushed ginger. Boil these masala spices for a minute and add a cup of milk (you can even increase or decrease the quantity of milk of your choice), add 2 ½ tsps tea powder or required amount, 2 tsps sugar or required amount. Boil for more 3 to 4 minutes on a low to medium heat. Stir inbetween boiling.
  • Once this is done, turn off the flame and strain it by using tea strainer into another large glass or bowl.
  • Serve this hot or warm masala tea into serving glasses along with chai biscuits or tea rusk or snacks and enjoy with your family.
