Cracked Wheat Upma Recipe / Godhuma Rava Upma Recipe / Dalia Upma Recipe



Cracked wheat upma is a healthy and Nutritious dish. This is also known as Godhuma Rava Upma or Dalia Upma. Cracked wheat is an excellent source of fiber and low in fat, by adding vegetables to this dish it makes more delicious and nutritious. This recipe is so simple and easy to prepare with less ingredients. Serve it hot, with any dal curry or sambar or any chutney of your choice.

Serves - 2 to 3

Ingredients:

  • Cracked Wheat - 1 Cup
  • Water - 2 Cups
  • Cumin Seeds - 1 Tbsp
  • Mustard Seeds - 1/2 Tbsp
  • Urad Dal - 2 Tbsp
  • Chana Dal - 1 Tbsp
  • Peanuts - 2 Tbsps
  • Cashews - 4 to 5 (optional)
  • Ginger - 1 Inch Size finely chopped 
  • Curry Leaves - Few
  • Green Chilies - 2 Slit
  • Onion - 1/2 Cup (thinly sliced)
  • Carrot - 1/2 Cup (Chopped) 
  • Sweet Corn - 1/4 Cup (blanched)
  • Green peas - 1/4 Cup
  • Salt - To Taste
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Coriander leaves - 5 to 6 tbsp
  • Oil - 3 Tbsps.


Process:


  • In a wide open pan or wok, dry roast cracked wheat on a medium flame for 1 or 2 minutes. Make sure the raw smell goes out.
  • Transfer the roasted cracked wheat to other plate and to the same pan, add 3 tbsps oil.
  • Once the oil is nice and hot, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, chana dal, urad dal, peanuts, cashew nuts and saute until light golden colour.
  • Add Chopped ginger, Curry leaves and saute it well.
  • Now Add Green Chilies, onions, turmeric powder and saute until the onions are transparent.
  • Add carrot, green peas, sweet corn, salt to taste or any vegetable of your choice and cook for 2 to 3 minutes on medium flame. stir in-between cooking.
  • Add water and bring water to boil.
  • Now and chopped coriander leaves and cracked wheat. mix is well and make the flame to low.
  • Cover this and Cook the cracked wheat on a low flame for 10 to 15 minutes or until the water evaporates completely and becomes soft.
  • Once it is done, serve it hot with any dal curry or chutney of your choice

Note:

  •  Can add any vegetables of your choice.
  •  Do remember, After adding cracked wheat in water, cover and cook on low flame for 10 to 15 minutes to get good result.
