Chana Paneer Chaat Recipe / Chana Chaat Recipe / Healthy Evening Snack Recipe

Chana paneer chaat is a delicious and nutritious evening snack. This chaat so simple to prepare with less ingredients and with in low time.
Chana(Chick peas) is also known as bengal gram or Garbanzo beans. Rich in protein, fiber and is low in fat.

Chana - 1 Cup (Soaked & boiled)
Onions - 1 medium sized (Finely Chopped)
Tomato - 1 medium sized (Finely chopped)
Paneer - 1/2 Cup (Finely Chopped)
Green chili - 1 (Finely chopped) (Adjust to your taste)
Chaat masala powder - 1/4 Tbsp
Dry Mango Powder - 1/4 Tbsp
Coriander Powder - 1 Tbsp
Cumin Seeds - 1 Tbsp
Red chili Powder - 1/2 Tbsp
Pepper powder - 1/4 Tbsp (Adjust to your taste)
Salt - To Taste
Turmeric powder - 1/8 Tbsp
Lemon Juice - 1 to 2 Tbsp
Sev - 1/4 Cup (optional)
Coriander leaves - 5 to 6 Tbsps
Curry Leaves - Few
Oil - 2 Tbsps

  • Wash and Soak chickpeas with enough water for overnight or 6 to 8 hours. 
  • Drain the excess water.
  • Add enough water, pinch of Salt and cook in a pressure cooker for 2 whistles. set aside.
  • Take a wide pan, add oil or butter. Once the oil is nice and hot, add cumin seeds, green chilies, Curry leaves, 3/4 chopped onions and saute it on a medium flame for 2 minutes or until the onions are translucent.
  • Add Turmeric Powder, Salt, Coriander powder, Red chili powder, Pepper powder, Chaat masala powder, Dry mango powder and mix it well.
  • Now add cooked chickpeas, paneer and saute it for 1 or 2 minutes or until all the masala nicely blends to chick peas and paneer.
  • Turn off the flame and add chopped tomatoes, Coriander leaves and mix it well.
  • Serve this warm chana paneer chaat or chickpea paneer chaat in serving plate or a bowl and squeeze lemon juice. Garnish with onions, sev.


  • You can even use canned garbanzo beans for instant snack.
  • Add some Cubed boiled potatoes to the above recipe and you have Aloo Chana Paneer Chaat.
  • You can make this chana paneer chaat in other way(oil free):
          Combine all the ingredients in one bowl and serve it. (In this method, reduce to half the
          quantity of the ingredients to your taste except tomato).
