Beetroot Halwa Recipe

Delicioushealthy and nutritious Indian dessert. Excellent for kids, who are usually not fond of beetroot will love this halwa and also so easy to prepare with less ingredients. You can make it more nutritious by adding dry fruits.



Ingredients for Beetroot Halwa:
  •     Beetroot - 1 large Size (Grated 2 Cups)
  •     Butter or Ghee - 3 to 4 tsp's
  •     Cashews - 9 to 10 
  •     Almonds - 6 to 7
  •     Raisins - 6 to 7
  •     Sugar - 1/4 Cup or Adjust according to your taste
  •     Whole Milk - 1 1/2 Cups
  •     Cardamom Powder  - 1 Tsp
Procedure to make Beetroot Halwa:
  • Wash, peel the skin and grate the beetroot
  • Take a wide open pan, add butter or else ghee. when the butter is melted, add almonds, cashews, raisins saute it until light golden brown.     
  • Now transfer the roasted ingredients to other plate.
  • To the same pan, add grated beetroot. if required, add some ghee to it. Saute the beetroot in regular intervals for 5 to 6 minutes or else until the raw smell goes on a low to medium flame,
  • After 5 minutes, taste the roasted beetroot. if any raw smell is still there, cook for few more minutes.
  • Now add whole milk to the roasted beetroot and mix it well.
  • After adding milk, cook the beetroot until it become soft and milk evaporated on low to medium heat.
  • Now add sugar, cardamom powder and mix it well. cook for more 2 minutes or else until the sugar dissolves and get mixed well with the beetroot.
  • Finally Garnish with Almonds, Cashews, Raisins and Serve hot or warm.
Note

  • You can also refrigerate the halwa for 3 to 4 days. Just warm the halwa before serving.
